Live For The Rush

by Catholic Guilt

/

about

‘Live For The Rush’ is a song about wanting to feel truly ‘alive’ again, after a prolonged period of emotional paralysis. It is about holding an insatiable desire to experience the sensation of life, yet at the same time living in fear of the risks and changes that might be required to do so.

lyrics

And my thoughts walk a tightrope,
Of hopeful and bleak,
A lifetime spent, snatching defeat,
From the jaws of victory

Been sitting here for way too long,
Wondering how long the roof will hold,
Before, it crushes us whole
It’s funny how the human mind,
left idol seems to always find,
A way to recreate or end it all

And my thoughts walk a tightrope
Of hopeful and bleak
a lifetime spent, snatching defeat
From the jaws of victory

I want to create and destroy at the same time,
I want to laugh and cry at once,
I want to change the world but not impact mine,
I want to feel everything, all at once
I want to live for the rush

Now I’m reading back the words I wrote,
When I was so young and hopeful,
With a head so full of dreams,
How I’d take the risk and never fall
And if I did I’d brush it off,
Oh the warmth of naivety

And my thoughts walk a tightrope
Of hopeful and bleak
A lifetime spent, snatching defeat
From the jaws of victory

I want to create and destroy at the same time,
I want to laugh and cry at once,
I want to change the world but not impact mine,
I want to feel everything all at once

I want to create and destroy at the same time (and I will create, and I will destroy)
I want to laugh and cry at once (I’m gonna laugh and cry, I’m gonna change),
I want to change the world but not impact mine (but not impact mine),
I want to feel everything (feel everything),
live everything (live everything),
breathe everything,
and live for the rush
